I went on the Timothy Course wanting to gain a bigger picture of Jesus. The Timothy Course helped me develop an understanding of the history of the Bible, I now have a clearer vision of seeing how valuable my life is to God, serving with a happy and thankful heart by sharing Jesus to others.
My main reason for coming on the course is that I am a new Christian of four years and found that when I spoke to my friends who are all non Christian about Jesus that I had no theology to back up the things I was feeling about Jesus. I didn't feel like I could explain myself fully without having a bit of theology to back it up with! I ended up coming away with so much more! It has taught me about history, Jesus, Ministry, Important figures who worked tirelessly and sometimes even died for Jesus' sake and so much more. I have also made some life long friends. It was brilliant and I am going to miss it!
I learned is how little I had already learned - I really thought I knew a lot, but was amazed at how much more there is to be known, and how skewed my 'knowledge' was from the true picture. This course has DEFINITELY helped me - it gave me a biblical perspective and clear direction for going on in His way rather than my own.
My initial worry was that a 'theology' course would be 'heavy ' and too intellectual for me, I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it was. Finding out about Foursquare history was, for me, a highlight and has changed how I view myself within God's plans for me. I was encouraged and inspired, and had my faith both built up and challenged during the Timothy Course. It is a voyage of discovery and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who has a thirst for the things of God.
Through the Timothy Course I've learnt how to connect the teachings from the bible with my personal life and context. I was expecting "a typical bible course" but I was surprise when I found a well configured, deep and challenging course with a very high standard of content that made me think a lot about the different aspects of my life in God and how to improve it. I recommend this course for those who are looking for good solid spiritual and intellectual food.
A good solid Bible-believing course with good solid Pentecostal Theology, excellent stuff !
